ABHC TREATMENT SERVICES
The Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic provides effective treatments for the anxiety disorders and associated syndromes. Cognitive-behavioral therapy and other services are available for adults, adolescents, and children via outpatient services.
The first step in therapy will always be to thoroughly assess and evaluate the presenting problem. All contributing factors will be considered, including environmental, psychological, and biological dynamics. Following the assessment, a mental health professional from our group will provide diagnostic feedback and information about the most appropriate and targeted therapy. Several modes of outpatient therapy are available, and are described in more detail below.
We know that those who enter therapy are feeling the negative impact of anxiety and fear on their lives. The goal of all of our treatments is to reduce anxiety to a level that does not impair or interfere with an individual's life. We want to improve the quality of life by reducing excessive fears, worries and anxiety.
Across our treatments, the program involves three main components:
- defining anxiety, fear, and panic and giving correct information about anxiety disorders
- showing how to eliminate destructive behaviors and patterns that are perpetuating the disorder
- changing attitudes toward anxiety and changing behavior when faced with anxiety-provoking situations
If you are suffering from an anxiety disorder you are not alone-We're here to help! If you live in the Tallahassee, Florida area and are interested in learning more about our services please email us or call at 850 / 645-1766.

INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT
Individual cognitive-behavioral therapy is available through the clinic under the care of a licensed psychologist, Dr. Brad Schmidt, who is an expert in the treatment of anxiety. Research has shown that cognitive-behavioral therapy is an excellent treatment for anxiety disorders, and many people who receive this intervention improve dramatically. Therapy will typically consist of meeting once a week. Availability of individual treatment depends on therapist openings. Fee rates are based on on our sliding scale.

GROUP TREATMENT
Our group therapy is an approximately ten week program, offered throughout the year. The goal of group therapy is to improve understanding of anxiety disorders, minimize fear, and maximize an individual's ability to face their anxiety.
We treat people with one or more of the following: Social Phobia, Panic Disorder with or without Agoraphobia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and some Specific Phobias. Groups meet once per week and consist of 3 to 5 members. One or more experienced therapists lead the group and tailor the specific treatment details to each member. Fee rates are based on on our sliding scale.

INTENSIVE TREATMENT PROGRAM
We often get requests for treatment from individuals living outside of the Tallahassee, FL area. To address the needs of these individuals, one treatment option is an intensive therapy program where the individual travels to Tallahassee for a period of 5 to 10 days and receives daily therapy sessions that cover all of the skills covered during the traditional 10-12 week treatment protocol. We have had individuals from Europe, Canada and throughout the United States participate in the intensive treatment program.
